BARCELONA—A sub-group analysis of a phase-III randomized study looking at women with early breast cancer found that patients aged 70 years or older who were treated with accelerated partial breast irradiation did significantly better than those who had whole breast irradiation. Icro Meattini MD, from the University of Florence in Italy, discussed his group’s analysis of quality of life and recurrence rates in this subset of patients at the 3rd ESTRO Forum, and gave Oncology Times reporter Sarah Maxwell his assessment.
