MOSHI, TANZANIA—New insecticides being tested in Tanzania promise to overcome the biggest threat to malaria control in Africa: the mosquito’s resistance to pyrethroid insecticides. Professor Frank Mosha from Kilimanjaro Christian Medical College, Tumaini University, Dr Richard Oxborough and Alima Qureshi from the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, explain how their research is raising hopes that new products will soon compensate for the spread of pyrethroid resistance when used for spraying inside houses and impregnating mosquito nets.
